Harley Davidson XR1200 Reaches Dealerships

E-mail Print PDF

harley_xr_1200.jpgThe long-awaited Harley-Davidson XR1200 arrives in all authorised UK dealers this weekend. The XR1200 has already been hailed by some of the UKs motorcycle press as the best Harley-Davidson motorcycle ever built promising a real treat for existing Harley-Davidson owners and riders who are looking for a more unique proposition than their current motorcycle.

Its predecessor the XR750 is the most successful racing motorcycle ever built and has been used in the early stages of several MotoGP stars racing careers as well as by infamous stunt rider Evel Knievel. The performance offered by the XR1200 is expected to appeal to a wide range of motorcyclists and it is the first-ever motorcycle released by the legendary Motor Company in Europe before America.

Dunlop Qualifier tyres, sport-tuned Showa suspension and Nissin dual front brakes add to the performance capabilities of the dirt-track inspired streetbike, while ergonomic styling based upon European riders adds to the comfortable riding position of the XR1200.

The XR1200 will be arriving at all authorised dealerships for sale from 21 and 22 June. The motorcycle will retail at an affordable 7,655 on the road and there is a wide range of parts and accessories available to customise the motorcycle, including a quick-detach windscreen and additional luggage for touring capabilities.

The motorcycle was first launched as a prototype machine at Intermot in October 2006 for customer feedback. Its UK debut followed at the NECs International Motorcycle and Scooter Show and production began at the end of April this year.

This is a very exciting time for us, says Harley-Davidson and Buell UK Marketing Manager Greg Willis. The XR1200 is a completely new direction for the Motor Company but based on the racing success of the bikes predecessor the XR750 we are expecting a lot of interest in the motorcycle. Its also a great opportunity to welcome new owners and sports bike riders looking for something more unique into the Harley-Davidson brand.
