British-based crash protection specialists, R&G Racing, have revealed a full range of parts to help protect the awesome new KTM RC8 and also sharpen the styling. The crash protectors have been carefully constructed in order to defend as much of the machine as possible without upsetting the Austrian superbike’s unique design and blending in where possible.
The R&G Tail Tidy goes the opposite way, allowing owners to alter the styling by revealing the sharp lines of the compact seat unit exactly how the KTM designers intended. The R&G RC8 range includes protectors for the frame, engine cases and fairing panels, forks, swingarm and bars, one of the areas most likely to be affected by a spill. Much more than plastic held on by bolts, the high-density Polyethylene (HDPE) bungs are designed to wear and not shatter. The particular grade of steel bolts used also helps to absorb impact by bending, rather than snap or twist their mounting points on the bike. The main protectors, available in modern “Aero” style, are clamped to the chassis in the optimum by a beautiful anodised aluminium block and clamp arrangement, designed to complement that of the black steel trellis frame, despite ultimately being covered by the fairing panels.
